Music is a Moral law...

It gives a soul to the Universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination, a charm to sadness, gaiety and life to everything. It is the essence of order, and leads to all that is good and just and beautiful.- Plato

I would say that music is definitely one of my own personal love languages...If you are unfamiliar with the term love languages, these are ways that people are meant to receive and express love in all forms of relationships, be it romantic love, platonic friendship or kinship (family). They fall under these 5 categories, which you could have in any order depending on how important they are to you when completing the survey:

  • Words of affirmation
  • Quality time
  • Physical touch
  • Acts of service
  • Giving and receiving gifts

"Words of affirmation" are my top love language, according to my results. I will attach a link below for more information... but getting back to the topic in hand, where did this concept actually come from?  Coined by Gary Chapman in 1992, he published a book based on his first-hand experiences offering pastoral care to the couples that attended his church. His work later gained traction in 2007 after reaching the top spot of several best sellers list, and although there is some scepticism around his work, I found it quite cute to look into in regard to my husband and myself.

Other than that I would also like to share with you a new word (or concept) that made me smile today. Taken from Japan, "Ikagi" translates to "A reason for being". To me, making art and feeding that curious spark for knowledge are my purpose, they are the core of my existence...the key to my heart space. So with that I'd like to ask you, what is your ikagi?
